Get set for a weekly read!

The weekly Gridiron West magazine will make a return this season in an
attempt to enrich the quality of game-days.

The magazine will include fixtures, standings and previous results along
with feature articles and player interviews.

This is an exciting development in the boards’ commitment to promote
our game in 2010/11, with the magazines aim being to help spectators
gain a greater context of the teams, players and the league.

All community input is appreciated, so if you are interesting in writing
articles this season, email editor Michael Barr at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
with your contact details and story ideas. There will be availabilities
for post match recaps, match day previews and feature stories so if you
want to write this season, contact Barr with what area you are interested
in before the 14th of August. The best story each week will be featured
on the front cover of the magazine and the Gridiron West homepage.

Also a competition is being held to name the magazine, so if
you have any thoughts on a title, send them to Michael Barr at

Visor ban!

Effective from the round of games this weekend (25th October 2008) there will be a complete ban on the use of tinted visors in Gridiron West.

This is an NCAA ruling for the protection of player's health as in the case of a serious injury it is useful for medical staff to be able to check the injured players eye responses - obviously tinted visors impede/prohibit vision of the eyes and make it harder to treat the injured person.  Clear visors are still acceptable.

If you have a genuine medical reason for wearing a tinted visor you can apply for an exemption by supplying medical certification to the GW Board.
